***The Sisters Ranger District is pleased to announce that the Metolius Basin Forest Management Project FEIS has been completed.  On July 2, 2003 the Deschutes National Forest Supervisor signed the Record of Decision to implement Alternative 3 of the FEIS, with some modifications. The Record of Decision describes the details of the selected alternative. The decision was published on July 16, 2003, therefore the 45-day appeal period ended on Sept. 2, 2003. An appeal has been filed by the League of Wilderness Defenders - Blue Mountains Biodiversity Project.***

  • Protect stream sides
  • Evaluate the road network to see how it can meet transportation needs while being more environmentally sensitive and affordable
  • Work collaboratively with the community and the forest industry to explore the new ideas about forest stewardship
  • Focus on what we leave in the forest, rather than what we take
  • Old growth pines3. Restore and protect Late-Successional (Old Growth) forest conditions
