Lichen Sensitivity and Frequency
Data
- Lichens were collected from plots during air quality
monitoring surveys on selected National Forests of Region 6 from
1994 to the present. Epiphytic macrolichens were collected
comprehensively on a 114' circular plot overlaid on point 1 of the
Current Vegetation Survey plot. Other lichens (crusts,
macrolichens on soil and rock) were collected sporadically. Lichen
sensitivity and frequency of occurrence within each Forest are
presented below. Sensitivity is as determined by McCune and Geiser
(1997), using field based, lichen community studies in western
Washington and Oregon. Frequency of occurrence is calculated as
the percent of plots sampled in which the species was found to
occur (on that Forest). Number of plots sampled is listed for each
Forest.
