Analysis Area

Selecting an Analysis Area

In this step, the user defines the geographic area−or Analysis Area−that will be included in the FETM analysis.  An Analysis Area may be a single administrative unit (for example, a National Forest, BLM District, or National Wildlife Refuge), or any combination of administrative units provided the different administrative units form a contiguous geographic area.  The modeling objectives usually dictate the appropriate geographic scale.  For example, a watershed analysis might require that only the watershed basin be included in the Analysis Area, whereas a Forest Plan Revision would require that the entire National Forest be included in the Analysis Area.
