Campgrounds

Sites at some campgrounds are reservable by going to www.recreation.gov/.  Family sites may be reserved 240 days in advance; Group sites may be reserved 360 days in advance. 20% of sites are held for first come-first served. 80% of the sites are available by reservation only. There is a four-day window for reservations, meaning you cannot reserve sites less than four days in advance.  Camping spaces are not reserveable by site number; the campground operator assigns reserved sites.

Most sites are inaccessible in the winter. None have services provided when they are closed.

Note:  In all areas -- a $2.00 per night surcharge will be collected for camping on all holiday weekends.

CLM will assess an additional $5.00 vehicle fee on the second motor vehicle in each single family campsite and on the third and fourth vehicles in any double family camp site.  No more than two vehicles are to be parked at each single campsite or four in each double camp site.

Jackson Meadows

Jackson Meadows is a high mountain reservoir with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and excellent fishing opportunities. It offers you the cool weather that most people are searching for in the summer. Pass Creek Campground can be accessed during the winter months via over-snow vehicles.

Meadow Lake Area

Meadow Lake is a beautiful high elevation lake with campgrounds near the lakeshore. Each August, Meadow Lake is where the base camp for the Sierra Trek 4x4 events are located.

At 7,400 feet, Meadow Lake is one of the highest elevation lakes available by motor vehicle on the Forest. To get to Meadow Lake, travel north of Truckee on SR 89 for 17 miles to Forest Service road 07; turn left and travel west to the Meadow Lake turnoff; turn left on Forest Service road 86 which becomes Nevada County Road 843 traveling south for approximately 10 miles. Most of the route is paved, but the last few miles are unpaved and becomes very rough. High clearance vehicles recommended. All campsites and group sites are first come-first serve.

Access to Meadow Lake during snow season is via over-snow vehicles only.

Meadow Lake Campgrounds are managed by PG&E
