What is a Sno-Park? -Sno-Parks
are snow-cleared parking lots, with sanitation facilities, that provide direct
access to popular cross country ski trails, snowmobile routes, and snow play
areas. This is a California Department of Parks and Recreation program.
Who is it for? - A day or
season permit is required for each vehicle at a site.
Season - The Winter season is
from November 1 to May 30.
Cost - $5.00 for a single day
permit. $25.00 for a season permit, which is valid at any Sno-Park in
California. Permit sales fund Sno-Park operations.
Other Information- Parking is
on a first-come-first served basis at all Sno-Parks, with no guarantee of space.
Where are the Sno-Parks in this area?
- Yuba Gap - On Highway I-80,
Yuba Gap exit; south of freeway, at National American Snowflower Campground.
Snow play area, sled slopes; small fee for cross-country ski trails.
No snowmobiles or motorized off-raod vehicles. Hot food, Sno-Park
permits and local information available at Snowflower Country Store.

- Donner Summit - Hwy I-80,
Castle Peak exit, on frontage road south of freeway, just beyond Boreal Inn
(Sno-Park permits available). Trails are on north side of freeway.
Limited snow play at east end of Sno-Park (main section is private
property). Very popular cross-country ski area; some snowmobiling.
Crowded on weekends. Avalanche and rock fall danger on steeper slopes
of trails. Capacity 100 cars. Information: US Forest

- Donner Lake - Higway
I-80, Donner Lake exit, on Donner Pass Road at Donner Memorial State Park,
next to Emigrant Trail Museum. Marked ski trails to Donner Lake and
Donner Party Historic Sites. No snowmobiles. Snow play; no sled
slope. No overnight parking. Capacity 35 cars. Sno-Park

- Yuba Pass -South side of Hwy
49 at Yuba Pass. Cross-country ski trails north of highway.
Extensive groomed snowmobile trails. good snow play; no sled slope.
Ample parking. capacity 30 cars. Information: US Forest Service,
