Fire Restrictions Are Not In Effect

Open fires and charcoal grills are permitted outside of developed campgrounds and picnic sites with a valid California Campfire Permit. You can get this free permit in person at any Ranger Station or our Visitor Center.

Dooryard and industrial burn permits on private lands are governed by state law, and you should contact the California Division of Forestry and Fire Protection for permits.

Contractors working on projects on NF lands are governed by the regulations in their contract or permit.

Dooryard/Debris Burning

  • Do you need a burn permit? If so, please stop by your local volunteer department or CDF fire station. Dry, natural vegetation, grown on the property, can still be burned outdoors in open piles, unless prohibited by local controls. Burn barrels are not be allowed for burning waste, including vegetation, at residences.

Dooryard burning is permitted on a daily basis determined by air pollution management authorities to minimize harmful pollution and protect public health. For more information, check out the California Air Resources Board site.

National Fire Plan

The National Fire Plan is a long-term investment that will help protect communities and natural resources, and most importantly, the lives of firefighters and the public. It is a long-term commitment based on cooperation and communication among federal agencies, states, local governments, tribes and interested publics.
