Weather conditions vary across the Forest, where elevation ranges from 1,500 feet in the American River Canyon to over 9,400 feet over Mount Lola at the Sierra Nevada crest. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather. Check the forecast before you adventure out.

State Highway Information

California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) maintains and operates the State Highways within the National Forest. Current Highway conditions are available through the following CalTrans links:

River Flow Information

South Yuba River Flow Increase

Due to Flow Increase in Canyon Creek below Bowman Lake. Please be aware that the Nevada Irrigation District will be increasing the flow in Canyon Creek which enters the South Yuba River above the town of Washington on October 13th & 14th, 2009. Reservoir and Lake Storage Data

This is a California Department of Water Resources site. Information on the current water storage levels and total capacities on the major reservoirs in California such as, Boca Reservoir, Bowman Lake, French Meadows Reservoir, Jackson Meadows Reservoir, New Bullards Bar Reservoir,  Prosser Reservior and Stampede Reservoir is available here.
