The Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment (SNFPA) Review Team has completed its review and provided its findings and recommendations to Regional Forester Jack Blackwell in this report, "SNFPA Management Review and Recommendations." After careful consideration, the Regional Forester will initiate action to implement the recommendations he deems appropriate for responsible stewardship and sustainable management of the Sierra Nevada national forests. The new information and analysis of any improvements being considered will be documented in a supplement to the January 2001 Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The Forest Service will solicit public comment on the draft Supplement. See the proposed timeline for the supplemental EIS process.

This report is divided into three main sections:

  • Part 1: Findings
  • Part 2: Recommendations
  • Part 3: Appendices

The box on the right side of this page contains links to Parts 1-3, literature citations and additional related information such as the Ranger Letters and the Cosumnes Watershed Analysis.

Initially, you might consider focusing on Part 2 of the report, which contains the Review Team's recommendations. Table 7 is a general summary of the Review Team's proposal describing objectives and priority for treatments by land allocations. In Part 2, the Team's recommendations for specific standards and guidelines are organized by blocks A and B -- where Block A describes the verbatim direction from the SNFPA ROD and Block B describes the Team's recommended changes.
