Upper Sacramento
(above Shasta Lake)

Species Present: Rainbow and Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass (lower end of river just above the reservoir).

Seasons: Sacramento River from Box Canyon Dam downstream to the Scarlett Way Bridge in Dunsmuir. Last Saturday in April through November 15. Artificial lures only, barbless hooks. Bag limit: 0.

Sacramento River and tributaries excluding Soda Creek from Scarlett Way Bridge downstream to the county bridge at Sweetbriar. Last Saturday in April through November 15. Bag limit: 5 per day.

Sacramento River and Tributaries from the county bridge at Sweetbriar downstream to Shasta Lake. Last Saturday in April through November 15. Artificial lures only with barbless hooks. Bag limit: 2.

Dog Creek
I-5 Northbound
Take Vollmers exit. Turn left on Dog Creek Road/Delta Road, go under freeway. Travel 0.3 miles and turn left on Fender Ferry Road. Travel approximately one mile down Fender Ferry Road, cross railroad tracks and cross bridge over Sacramento Park along road after crossing bridge. Walk down dirt road to the right for river access.
I-5 Southbound
Take Vollmers exit. Turn right onto Dog Creek Road. Turn left on Fenders Ferry Road. Follow northbound directions.

McCardle Flat
I-5 Northbound
Take Vollmers exit. Turn left onto Dog Creek Road/Delta Road. Turn right on Delta Road, then turn left onto McCardle Flat Road. Travel 1.0 mile down McCardle Flat Road and turn right onto a gravel road. Go approximately 0.4 miles down the graveled road and park in widened area near railroad tracks. Walk east to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Vollmers exit. Turn left onto Dog Creek Road/Delta Road, then turn left onto McCardle Flat Road. Follow northbound directions.

LaMoine
I-5 Northbound
Take LaMoine exit. Travel 0.5 mile and turn left at first dirt road (across street from school bus sign on right). Dirt road forks, take right over bridge (Slate Creek). Travel approximately 0.2 miles on dirt road and park along road at top of hill. Walk down the dirt road to the left and head east to the river.
I-5 Southbound
Take LaMoine exit. Turn right at stop sign. Follow northbound directions.

Pollard Gulch
I-5 Northbound
South access point. Take Pollard Flat exit. Turn right at stop sign. Turn left on Eagle Roost Road. Take an immediate right and follow to parking area for seven vehicles (Note: No parking spaces for large RVs or trailers).
I-5 Southbound
Take Pollard Flat exit. Turn left at stop sign and go over freeway. Follow northbound directions.

Gibson
I-5 Northbound
Take Gibson exit. Follow road over freeway; road parallels freeway heading south, then goes east under freeway, then parallels river. Park along Gibson Road and walk to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Gibson exit. Turn right on Gibson Road. Continue on Gibson Road until it parallels river. Park along road and walk to river.

Sims
I-5 Northbound
Take Sims exit. Turn right on Sims Road. Cross railroad tracks and bridge over Sacramento River. Parking lot near pedestrian bridge.
I-5 Southbound
Take Sims exit. Turn left on Sims Road. Follow northbound directions.
River can be accessed at campground, or by walking across pedestrian bridge and heading downstream. Can also park in dirt area to left of Sims Road prior to crossing railroad tracks and access river by walking upstream.

Conant
I-5 Northbound
Take Conant Road exit. Turn right on Conant Road. Turn right at first dirt road. Park on the west side of railroad tracks. Walk east to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Conant Road exit. Turn left on Conant Road at stop sign. Follow northbound directions.

Sweetbrier
I-5 Northbound
Take Sweetbrier exit. Turn right immediately after stop sign onto a dirt road. Travel 0.2 miles before road forks; take left fork to bottom of hill...about 50 yards. Park along dirt road on west side of tracks and walk east to the river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Sweetbrier exit. Turn left at stop sign and then a right after northbound exit, onto a dirt road. Follow northbound directions.

Castle Crags State Park
I-5 Northbound
Take Castella exit. Turn right onto Castle Creek Road, then left on Frontage Road. Follow Castle Crags State Park picnic area sign. Travel 0.2 miles to Riverside Road, turn right. Take bridge over river, turn left after bridge. Go 0.3 miles and turn left at Castle Crags State Park picnic area sign.
I-5 Southbound
Take Castella exit. Turn left at first stop sign onto Castle Creek Road. Turn left on Frontage Road. Follow northbound directions.

Soda Creek

Take Soda Creek Road exit. Turn right on Soda Creek Road...0.25 mile, cross tracks. Park before you cross bridge on right side.
I-5 Southbound
Take Soda Creek Road exit. Turn left on Soda Creek Road. Follow northbound directions.

Financial Avenue
I-5 Northbound
Take Crag View Drive exit. Travel 0.5 miles and turn right on Financial Avenue. Travel 0.2 miles to wide area for parking. Walk to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Crag View/Railroad Park Exit. Follow Crag View Drive under freeway. Travel north on Crag View Drive and turn left on Financial Avenue. Follow to river.

Take Central Dunsmuir Exit. turn left onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Travel 0.3 miles and turn left on Stagecoach Road. Follow Stagecoach and park under freeway overpass. Walk to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Central Dunsmuir Exit. Turn right onto Dunsmuir Avenue and turn left on Stagecoach Road. Follow northbound directions.

Dunsmuir City Park
I-5 Northbound
Take Central Dunsmuir exit. Turn left onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Travel 0.5 miles and turn left at "Dunsmuir City Park" sign. Follow road down to park.
I-5 Southbound
Take Central Dunsmuir exit. Turn right onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Travel 0.2 miles and turn left at "Dunsmuir City Park" sign. Follow road down to park.

Scarlett Way
I-5 Northbound
Take Central Dunsmuir exit. Turn left onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Travel 0.8 miles and turn left on Scarlett Way, under Shasta Retreat sign. Turn right on Cave Avenue. Cross river and railroad tracks, turn left after tracks to dirt parking area.
I-5 Southbound
Take Central Dunsmuir exit. Turn right onto Dunsmuir Avenue. Travel 0.5 miles and turn left on Scarlett Way. Follow northbound directions.

Prospect Avenue
I-5 Northbound
Take Dunsmuir Avenue exit. Turn left at stop sign. Travel 0.3 miles and turn right on Prospect Avenue (watch for "Prospect Avenue Fishing Access" sign). Turn right when road forks. Follow Prospect Avenue down hill to river.
I-5 Southbound
Take Dunsmuir Avenue Exit. Turn right at stop sign. Travel 0.2 files and turn right on Prospect Avenue. Follow northbound directions.

Cantara
I-5 Northbound
Take Central Mt. Shasta exit. Turn left at stop sign on Lake Street and go over freeway. Turn left on Old Stage Road. Travel 2.5 miles and turn right at Azalea Road (a "T" intersection). Travel 0.25 miles and turn right on Cantara Road. Follow road down to dirt parking area.
I-5 Southbound
Take Central Mt. Shasta exit. Turn right at stop sign on Lake Street. Turn left on Old Stage Road. Follow northbound directions.

Ney Springs
I-5 Northbound
Take Central Mt. Shasta exit. Turn left at stop sign on Lake Street, go over freeway. Turn left on Old Stage Road. Turn right on W.A. Barr Road, cross over Box Canyon Dam, then turn left on Castle Lake Road. Take the first available left turn on a dirt road and travel 1.25 miles, then turn left at the Ney Springs Access road.
I-5 Southbound
Take Central Mt. Shasta exit. Turn right at stop sign on Lake Street. Turn left on Old Stage Road. Follow northbound directions.
