Kern River Ranger District
Over-Snow Vehicles (OSV) Information

Kern River Ranger District

OSV program provides 100 miles of groomed trails, 10 miles of ungroomed trails, as well as, 30 miles of unmarked routes over 15,000 acres of suitable open area with one plowed trailhead and a warming hut. The trailhead at Sherman Pass will continue to be cleared for visitors traveling to the west side of the Kern Plateau. All areas utilized by over-snow vehicles have been identified and mapped.

Snow grooming will continue with the operators setting smooth, flat and properly sloped routes. The district's trail system will be well marked with intersection signing at most junctions. The district will continue to provide a handout, which includes a map giving specific trail information to the public.
