Pass Related Concerns

With the Southern Sierra Pass will there be a tiered fee structure, depending upon type, season, or location of use?

No additional tiers for type of use, season or location of use will be added to the Southern Sierra Pass. This pass is already part of a tiered fee structure for standard amenity fees and includes the option of a daily or annual pass.

What passes are currently available that would also be valid with high impact recreation areas?

The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Interagency Pass will be accepted; these include the Annual Pass ($80/year), the discounted Senior Pass ($10 Lifetime), and the free Access Pass.

The Southern Sierra Pass would be accepted at any standard amenity site or area on the Sequoia National Forest.  At this time this includes the Lake Isabella Area (Auxiliary Dam, Old Isabella Road, South Fork Recreation Area), and day-use at Camp 9 (Camp 9 is not under concessionaire permit, this may change in 2010).

Can an inexpensive pass just for locals be part of the fee program?

The Forest Service under anti-discrimination laws can not favor or show bias to one group over another. All citizens of the United States have equal rights to public lands.
