Tule River Reservation Protection Project

The Tule River Reservation Protection Project responds to a proposal from the Tule River Tribal Council under the Tribal Forest Protection Act, to reduce the spread of wildland fire starting on the Sequoia National Forest or private lands to the Tule River Indian Reservation. The project is located partially within the Black Mountain Giant Sequoia Grove and is also near private lands on Bateman Ridge and in Rogers Camp. The project would reduce surface and ladder fuels on 1,425 - 2,825 acres. The methods of reducing fuels vary between alternatives and include constructing fuel breaks, treating planted stands, prescribed burning between planted stands and fuel breaks, follow-up maintenance prescribed burning, surface fuel treatments, and cutting snags.
