The Motorized Travel Management Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Record of Decision (ROD)
The Motorized Travel Management Record of Decision (ROD) has been completed. The decision was made to implement Modified Alternative 3. This decision creates a manageable transportation system protecting resource values for wildlife such as the California condor, and provides a fun and challenging road and trail system for local residents and other visitors to the area. The system includes interconnected roads and trail loops for all levels of use - from novice to expert. Most importantly, access to the Lake Isabella shoreline is provided by 16 open areas. Links to the ROD and the Final Enviromental Impact Statement (FEIS) are listed to the right.
Six alternatives were considered in this FEIS. Five of these alternatives were described and analyzed in the DEIS. A Modified Alternative 3 was added to the FEIS to address public concerns about access to Lake Isabella and potential impacts to condor roost areas. The FEIS also included limited changes to existing roads and trails, and identified mitigation measures that must be completed prior to designating certain routes for motor vehicle use.
If you would like to receive a copy of the ROD or FEIS on CD, please contact Chris Sanders at (559) 784-1500 ext. 1131.

These large maps are in color and are designed to printed on a large format plotter.
The maps are in PDF format and are viewable and printable with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader should be used to view these maps.
