The Last Chance Road Project is a road maintenance and improvement project within the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument. Last Chance Road (22S02) is an unpaved 4.1-mile road located about 4 miles north of the community of Johnsondale, California, between the paved Lloyd Meadow Road (22582) and Western Divide Highway. The project's purpose is to improve the condition of the road so that there is safe access suitable for passenger cars, maintaining the road to its current designated standard.
