Visitor Services

Angeles National Forest

  • Management of high impact-dispersed recreation areas
  • Installation of numerous trail information and directional signs
  • Interpretive educational programs at the Mt. Baldy Visitor Center and at the San Gabriel Canyon Education Center
  • Conducted other (non-fee) law enforcement activities
  • Augmentation of contract restroom daily cleaning efforts

Cleveland National Forest

  • Implementation of snow plan with the Highway Patrol in the Mt. Laguna Recreation Area

Los Padres National Forest

  • Creation of a Visitors Guide
  • Resource protection
  • Removal of illegal dump sites

San Bernardino National Forest

  • Assistance to cooperating agencies with injured forest visitors during snow play and off-highway vehicle activities
  • Increased public contact
  • Installation and repair of signs, bulletin boards

Resource Protection

Angeles National Forest

  • Location and clean-up of trash dumpsites throughout the year
  • Coordination with local Eagle Scouts for installation of several bear-proof trash receptacles along Glendora Mountain Road

Cleveland National Forest

  • Dump Clean Up
  • Graffiti removal on Graffiti Rock

San Bernardino National Forest

  • Preparation for native plantings at the Heaps Peak Arboretum and Willow Fire burn area
  • Streamside restoration projects - removal of handmade dams

Los Padres National Forest

  • Removal of graffiti alongside the popular Reyes Peak Road

Deferred Maintenance

Angeles National Forest

  • Accomplishment of long needed trail maintenance within the Cucamonga Wilderness

Cleveland National Forest

  • Installation of new tables and picnic grills and maintenance on camp and picnic units
  • Coordination a major multi-day clean up event in Black Canyon
  • Conducted a major clean-up event on Orasco ridge
  • Facelift for El Cariso Visitor Information Center
  • Erosion control on OHV routes in the Trabuco District

San Bernardino National Forest

  • Planned and coordinated a major hazard tree removal project allowing re-opening of 20 campgrounds

Los Padres National Forest

  • Cleared brush from the overgrown Middle Sespe Trail
  • Removal of downed trees along the Matilija Trail

Capital Improvements

Angeles National Forest

  • Paved and striped both the Mt. Baldy rest area parking lot and Visitor Center, as well as constructed curbs and drainage at the Ice House Canyon trailhead parking lot

San Bernardino National Forest

  • Funded volunteer project planning, coordination and purchase of materials for the Heaps Peak Arboretum fencing project

Routine Maintenance

Angeles National Forest

  • Cleanup of dispersed recreation areas

San Bernardino National Forest

  • Removal of hazard and downed trees along the designated trail system; trail maintenance
  • Restroom painting and maintenance at Pinnacles Off-Highway Vehicle Staging Area and Splinter’s Cabin Trailhead

Los Padres National Forest

  • Coordination of clean up of two shooting areas
  • Repair of vandalized toilet buildings, signs, bulletin boards in the Mt. Pinos District
  • Repair of campsites in Aliso, Reyes, Kings and Chuchupate Campgrounds
  • Regular pick-up of dumpster in the Mt. Pinos District

Fee Collection

  • Enterprise Forest Headquarters staff worked on several projects designed to improve public convenience, fee collection efficiency and audit accuracy
