Source Data for Western Core Tables

Existing vegetation maps and sample plots are two major components used to estimate inventories on the National Forests in the Pacific Southwest Region. For this report, source information ranged from 1999 to 2004 for maps, and 2001 to 2006 for sample plots. Specific source dates by National Forest are shown in the Table below.

1/ The Vegetation Map date is based on the baseline source imagery date or the latest update date for changes due to fire, harvest, re-growth, and reforestation activities.

2/ The Sample Plots date is based on when the inventory was completed. Plot installation dates on a Forest range 1-3 years.

3/ All inventory plot volumes are projected to the year indicated; tree updates for mortality are based on partial remeasurement of 60% or more of plots beginning in 2001.
