Vegetation Monitoring

Vegetation Monitoring is conducted in Region 5 in conjunction with our State & Private Forestry (S&PF) and California Department of Forestry (CDF) partners using baseline vegetation maps and inventory plots, change detection, cause determination, map updates, and re-measurement plots. This information serves as the basis for assessing the vegetation resources and associated uses such as: forest health, timber volume and growth, wildlife habitats, old growth forests, watershed conditions, and surface fuel mapping.
