Vegetation Monitoring

Vegetation Monitoring is conducted in Region 5 in conjunction with our State & Private Forestry (S&PF) and California Department of Forestry (CDF) partners using baseline vegetation maps and inventory plots, change detection, cause determination, map updates, and re-measurement plots. This information serves as the basis for assessing the vegetation resources and associated uses such as: forest health, timber volume and growth, wildlife habitats, old growth forests, watershed conditions, and surface fuel mapping. The work is scheduled and coordinated within five project areas of the State. For further information, see the details in the links below.
