FSVEG Inventory Database Table Relationships

This is a description of how the files in the vegetation inventory database relate to each other. Understanding the relationships is necessary if you want to join one table to another to use more than 1 table in a SQL query.

There is a hierarchy to the tables in the inventory database, although the tree, vegetation and woody tables have been normalized and contain many subplot attributes that are used in our Summary and Matrix programs.

• PLOT_CLASSIFICATION - CONDITION CLASS PLOT level
• FSVEG_CFRM_V - SUBPLOT level
• FSVEG_TXPT_V - TREE/LOG/SNAG record level
• FSVEG_VXPT_V - VEGETATION SPECIES record level
• FSVEG_WXPT_V - WOODY DEBRIS/DUFF record level
• ORACLE_TREE_VOLUME - TREE/LOG/SNAG record level

The PLOT_CLASSIFICATION table relates to tables FSVEG_CFRM_V, FSVEG_TXPT_V, FSVEG_VXPT_V, FSVEG_WXPT_V with the columns FOREST,PLOT,SPLT.

The FSVEG_CFRM_V table relates to tables FSVEG_TXPT_V, FSVEG_VXPT, FSVEG_WXPT with the columns FOREST,PLOT,SPLT,POIN.

The FSVEG_TXPT_V table relates to the ORACLE_TREE_VOLUME table based on the columns FOREST,PLOT,SPLT,POINT,FLD_ID.
