FVS Table Format

The following table lists the fields that are in the FVS Table

Note: In some cases the order of columns in our table in the Access database is different from this documentation.

Cell Color What the color means in relation to the data
Yellow Highlight Shows the fields in which we have entered data
Green Highlight Shows columns that we added to the table

Variant 1Char(2)Required - The 2 character variant identification code
Inv_Year 1IntegerRequired - The stand’s inventory year corresponding to IY(1) in FVS
Groups 1Char(50)Region 5 stratum (forest-plan-stra) ; A list of Grouping Codes, also separated by spaces, tabs, carriage returns, or newlines
AddFilesChar(50)A list of Addfile names (.kcp), separated by tabs, carriage returns, or newlines, which will be inserted into simulation file as one or more components
FVSKeywordsChar(50)A list of FVS keywords, separated by spaces, tabs, carriage returns, or newlines, which define the FVS run
LatitudeFloatLatitude in degrees of the stands location

HabitatInteger or Char(10)PV_Code identifies the potential vegetation. It is often the Habitat type or Plant association code. The two names shown are synonymous.

Slope 1FloatSlope in percent
ElevationFloatStand elevation represented in 100’s of feet for all variants except AK were it is elevation in 10’s of feet.
ElevFt 1FloatElevation in feet. When specified, ElevFt takes precedence over Elevation.
Basal_Area_FactorFloatBasal area factor corresponding to BAF in FVS
Inv_Plot_Size 1FloatThe inverse of the fixed plot size in acres. This is always "1" for Region 5 data
Brk_DBH 1FloatBreakpoint DBH in inches

HtTopKFloatHeight to top kill is the height to the point of the tree of top kill in feet
CrRatio 1IntegerIf the number is 0-9 then it is considered a crown ratio code, according to the FVS documentation. If the number is 10-99 the value is considered a percent live crown.
