Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Boundary. This polygon feature class represents the overall boundary of the Sierra Nevada Framework. Within this boundary are the Eldorado, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Sequoia, Sierra, Stanislaus, and Tahoe National Forests, the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, and the portion of the Toiyabe National Forest West of US Highway 395.
Purpose:
This data was developed by the USDA Forest Service for use in the Sierra Nevada Forest Plan Amendment Environmental Impact Statement. Procedures Used: The SNVADMN96_10 coverage created in 1996 by USDA Forest Service was used as the outline boundary to determine which polygons to select from FSSDE.R5ForestOutlines04. All of the polygons that fell within the SNVADMN96_10 boundary were selected from FSSDE.R5ForestOutlines04. The Toiyabe polygon extended past the boundary, so only the portion of the Toiyabe that fell West of US Highway 395 was selected. The portions of the Lassen and Modoc National Forest that overlapped with the Northwest Forest Plan were deleted from the Sierra Nevada Forest Plan boundary. The polygons selected were dissolved to create one polygon boundary that is a Sierra-wide Personal GeoDatabase Feature Class. This dataset is current as of November 02, 2005.
