Abstract:
RMU Subunits - a feature class depicting the boundaries of Rangeland Management Subunits (pastures) as managed by National Forests within Region 5 of the USDA Forest Service.
Purpose:
This Geodatabase is to provide a standardized base layer for U.S. Forest Service GIS applications. The product will provide tools to display and update those lands being managed by the Forest Service for purposes of grazing domestic or wild livestock.

Updates were provided by the Forest. Edits were made to the Regional layer with the updates provided. The attribute table of this polygon layer was derived using the Geospatial Interface, joining the INFRA Oracle table view (FSDBA.GC_ALLOTMENTS_V) to the polygon features.

GIS layers for rangeland allotments and pastures were originally created by staff on each of the R5 National Forests using a variety of methods including (but not limited to) : GPS capture of boundary fences, hand-digitization from paper USGS quarter-quad maps, and importation from an unspecified raster dataset. All Forest-level data were collected by regional office staff in November 2005 and integrated into this feature dataset. Data were vertically integrated where appropriate to corporate datasets in the Land geodatabase including: Proclaimed Forest Boundaries, Administrative Forest Boundaries, Ranger District Boundaries, Wilderness Boundaries, and other linework in the Automated Lands Project datasets (e.g., PLSS and land ownership).
