Abstract:
Riparian Reserve Management Zones: This layer contains polygon features of riparian reserves, portions of watersheds where riparian-dependent resources receive primary emphasis and where special standards and guidelines apply. A riparian area contains an aquatic ecosystem, such as a stream, lake, river, pond, or wetland, plus adjacent upland areas that directly affect it.
Purpose:
Riparian Reserves are used to maintain and restore riparian structures and functions of intermittent streams, confer benefits to riparian-dependent species other than fish and provide for greater connectivity of the watershed.
Supplemental_Information:
This layer is derived from buffering the stream layer by different widths based on stream type and derived slope classes from DEMs. The models were developed to best portray the riparian management zone and reserves standards and guidelines in each Forest Plan.
