- Support various Land and Resource Planning and Assessment efforts by providing
GIS and assessment services for Region 5.
- Provide Cost Effective and Statistical Based Vegetation Resource Inventories in an Ecological Framework for Determining
Changes, Causes, and Trends to Vegetation Structure, Health, Biomass, Volume, Growth, Mortality, Condition, and Extent.
- Provide descriptions and keys for existing vegetation types using the Calveg
classification system.
- Identify land use, land cover, and vegetation structure change over time and causes of change.
- Provide up-to-date Maps and Accuracy Assessments using Remote Sensing, Image Processing,
GIS Modeling, Change Detection, Integration of Existing Data, Photo
Interpretation and Ground Based Information.
- Provide Forest Inventory Sample Design, Contract Services, Quality Control and Assurance, Data Compilation, Analysis and
Reporting, Regional Technical Support, and User Training for Stand Examinations and Forest Inventory And Analysis Software use.
- Provide an Inventory of Tree Mortality in Southern California Mountains (2001-2004) due to Bark Beetle Impacts.
- Provide a data dictionary that describes Regional GIS
layers used in National Forest planning.
- Provide GIS Services for Land and Resource Planning and Analysis, Regional Contract Administration,
Corporate Data Base Repository, Information Requests, Interagency Coordination with Federal, State, Private and Institutional
Organizations, Regional Data Dictionary, Integration with National and Regional Oracle Data Base Applications, Linkages with
Decision Support Systems, and Technical Support.
- Provide Imagery at Multiple Resolutions and State-of-the-Art Remote Sensing Tools to support Mapping and Assessment of the
Existing Vegetation Resources as well as other Natural Resources.
