Regional Planning Executive Team Charter

Mission and Purpose

The Regional Planning Executive Team provides leadership for the Forest Plan Revision process in Region 5. Plan revision cuts across all work areas and has not been a part of our routine work. Firm and consistent leadership is needed to coordinate across functions and maintain a focus to get the plans revised. The mission of this team is to see that forest plans revisions are completed for Region 5 forests by 2013.

Roles

  • Guide and make decisions regarding the regional forest plan revision effort.
  • Provide Regional policy, procedures and direction regarding plan revision.
    • Decide on the levels of consistency needed across forests in their forest plan decisions and monitoring & evaluation plans, data collections, etc.
    • Develop the Regional vision and guidance for the Comprehensive Evaluation Reports (CER’s).
  • Determine necessary resources.
  • Work collaboratively with the Regional Leadership Team in making these decisions and assignments to complete forest plan revisions.
  • Assure that work is done collaboratively with the public and other government agencies to complete plan revisions.
  • Monitor accomplishments.
  • Work closely with Forests and the Regional Office Interdisciplinary Team to resolve problems in a timely way so progress is maintained.

Duration

Membership on the Exec Team is a long-term commitment. The Team is expected to operate until all Region 5 forests have completed plan revisions and objections, estimated for 2013. The Team will develop their schedule. Adjustments to membership will be made by the Team as needed to maintain a viable, representative group of leaders.
