The Inyo National Forest would like to invite everyone to come to the newly refurbished Firefighter Memorial site dedicated to the memory of Inyo National Forest employees Richard Cumor, Dale De Loach and Thomas Klepperich, who lost their lives protecting the resources of the Los Padres National Forest from the Romero Fire October 7, 1971. The project was completed through the support and efforts of the Inyo National Forest Engineering Dept, Division Chief, Carol Carlock, Donna Perez, BLM; Penny Kellogg, Becky Knox, Forest Botanist Kathleen Nelson, local botanist/plant propagationist Kathy Ingram, Ann Dunsky of the RO Public Affairs, California Department of Forestry, CalTrans, and many more for their assistance. We believe you will find this site a beautiful and special place in which to reflect, offer your respect in memory of those who have passed on, and give thanks for one who returned.
