Blanche Lake Campground

Getting There: On Highway 139, head north past Bug Station for approx. 4.5 miles, then turn left on Co. Rd. 97. Go approx. 18.5 miles to Forest Service Road 44N75 and turn left, then go 1 mile to Forest Service Road 44N38 and go 0.5 miles. Turn right and follow the signs to Blanche Lake.

Elevation: 6,500 above sea level

Season: Generally July  - October (Closed for Winter)

Facilities:

  • RV and tent units available 
  • Picnic tables and fire pits at each site
  • Vault toilets
  • 14 day stay limit
  • NO Potable Water available
  • Road Conditions are fair

Fees: Free

Local Activities and Attractions:

  • Fishing may not be very good
  • Boating small lake which is not suitable for motorboats
  • Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway: The campground is located near the Modoc Volcanic Scenic Byway.
  • Auto Tour Loop: Take a auto tour of the surrounding area to Lava Beds National Monument, Tulelake, Newell, and Tionesta.
  • Modoc Backcountry Discovery Trail: If you have a sports utility vehicle take a trip along the Modoc Backcountry Discovery Trail.
  • Lava Beds National Monument: is a great place to visit and learn about the local geology and history.

The nearest convenience store and gasoline is located in Tionesta, California. The nearest town with services is  Tulelake, California. The nearest 24 hour service and hospital are located in the town of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
