Mendocino National Forest to Host Public Workshops to Discuss Off-Highway Vehicle Routes

Willows, February 14, 2005 - The Mendocino National Forest will hold three public workshops in March and April to discuss a Forest Service statewide effort now underway to manage motorized off-highway vehicle (OHV) use on national forests.

Over the next four years, all national forests in California will designate a system of roads and trails for motorized OHV use that will enhance quality recreation opportunities, promote public safety and protect natural resources. While all national forests in Calfornia will be conducting the designation process, each forest has different OHV management standards already in place and will be charting the course of their designation process independently over the next four years.

The Mendocino National Forest will host three workshops to describe the route designation process, share the routes that have been inventoried on the Mendocino, and identify members of the public who are interested in participating in the Mendocino's designation process in the future. All workshops are on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon on the following dates:
