Special Events for the Summer of 2009

This is a list of special events that are presented at the US Forest Service Visitor Center at Taylor Creek. The Visitor Center is located 3 miles north of the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe. Take Hwy. 89 past the Tallac Historic Site.

Thursday July 9, 2009 7:00 p.m.	Wild Things Learn about many native wild animals LIVE on stage. No pets admitted. Admission: Free
Friday July 10, 2009 8:30 p.m.	Pollinators & the Pollinated! Join Karen Wiese to explore the relationships between the flora and fauna that sustain each other and the beauty that results!
Saturday July 18, 2009 8:30 p.m.	Night Sky Meet astronomer Rich Combs at Tallac Point and learn about the stars and their stories from the beach. (Location change for cloudy skies; contact the Visitor Center) Admission: Free
Thursday July 23, 2009 7:00 p.m. & Thursday August 20, 2009 7:00 p.m.	An Evening with: Mark Twain McAvoy Layne presents "that wild humorist of the western slope, Mark Twain." No reservations. Come early for best seats. Admission: $5 for adults and $3 for children.
Thursday July 30, 2009 8:30 p.m.	Bats: Winged Fliers of the Night Meet some of the common Tahoe bats and learn the truth about their lives. Admission: Free
Friday August 7, 2009 8:00 p.m.	In Search of Butterflies! Join entomologist Jim Mori to learn about and meet the butterflies of Lake Tahoe. Admission: Free
