Additional space is available for walk in permits at Inyo National Forest Visitor Centers.

Trails are listed by wilderness area, from North to South.
These trails can be reserved starting six months in advance of entry date and up until two days before the trip, if space is available. Please be sure your information is accurate and complete before you reserve. There are no refunds.
The numbers in the tables below represent entry dates that the RESERVABLE part of the quota is full. Your party must fit within the quota on the date that you start on the trail. (You do not need to fit in the quota for each day of your trip, only the entry date)

Overnight/ Multi-night

See Mt. Whitney Reservation Availability for Day Use and Overnight/ Multi-night reservations.
Day Use quota applies for all day hikes into the Mt. Whitney Zone, and includes all trails, cross country travel, including day use of the Mountaineers Route, East Face/ East Buttress and other summits within the Mt Whitney Zone. Day use of North Fork of Lone Pine Creek trail is included in the Mt. Whitney Day Use quota of 100 people each day.
Overnight / Multi-night trips into the Mt Whitney Zone do not require an additional day permit, the overnight permit is valid. Seperate quota applies for Overnight use of North Fork of Lone Pine Creek.
