Sly Guard Cabin Information
Reservations
The Sly Guard Cabin is rented through the National Recreation Reservation
Service at 1-877-444-6777 or their web site at www.recreation.gov.
Special-use permit: You must sign and pick up your special-use permit in person from the Placerville Ranger District. You will be given the combination to the key box for the facility and combination to the gate at that time.
- Reservations for use of the cabin and grounds may be made by anyone 18 years or older.
- Reservations can be made from 7 days to 6 months in advance of your first nights stay.
- Reservations for the cabin can only be obtained through the reservation system not from private parties or by subletting.
- The cabin sleeps four people and the grounds can accommodate an additional 8 people for a maximum of 12 people.
- Availability is from early June to mid-October.
- Fee: $65.00 per night up to 12 people (see sleeping accommodations under amenities). Fees may change at any time.
- Expect to pay a reservation and cancellation fee when appropriate.
- The fee is deposited in a cooperative account and used to maintain the facility.
- Check-out time is 1:00 pm, and check-in time is 2:00 pm.
- The cabin is NOT reservable on Monday nights for cleaning.

Days: 6 days a week in the summer Monday through Saturday.
To reach the Placerville Ranger Station travel 8 miles east of Placerville on Highway 50 and take the Cedar Grove Exit (Exit #54). Turn right (south) on Eight Mile road, then another immediate right for the ranger station.
Please return the condition report attached to your permit within 5 days of your visit. The condition report helps us improve the recreation rental experience.
Travel Directions To Cabin
From Placerville, take Highway 50 and travel 16 miles east to Pollock Pines. Take Exit 60 (Sly Park Road) and travel south approximately 6.2 miles. Arrive at 5561 Sly Park Road on the left. Drive through the Cedar Park Trailhead parking lot then through the gate.
Permit and Access: You must pick up your permit in person at the Placerville Ranger Station before you arrive at the facility. You will need a combination (issued with your permit) to unlock the gate and cabin front door key storage lock.
