Crew Members (Multiple Positions) - Trail or Facility Maintenance - # 000

Location: Clovis, CA

Pay: $8.00 per hour

Housing Available: No

Duties:

  • Work in a group of 5-6 members
  • Ensure that recreation areas and trails are maintained in accordance with standards
  • Construct and restore minor recreation areas, facilities, and trails
  • Work is performed in a forest environment. The terrain may be steep, uneven, rock, and covered with thick and tangled vegetation. Requires walking on rough terrain. Temperatures vary. Work requires the use of safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and a hard hat

Eligibility / Requirements

  • Be at least 15 years of age and not have reached 19 years of age during the term of employment

Location: Clovis, CA

Pay: $11.95 - 15.00 per hour

Duties:

  • Lead a crew of 4 high school students
  • Ensure that recreation areas and trails are maintained in accordance with standards
  • Construct and restore minor recreation areas, facilities, and trails
  • Assign specific tasks and provide clear, detailed, and specific oral and written instructions on the methods to use
  • Requires walking on rough terrain. Work is performed in a forest environment. The terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky, and covered with thick and tangled vegetation. Temperatures vary. Work requires the use of safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and hard hats
  • Requires driving to remote areas in national forests. Sites are located roughly one to two hours from duty stations

Off-Highway Vehicle Patrol (STEP)-Stanislaus National Forest - # 002

Location: Stanislaus National Forest

Pay: $11.95 - 13.41 per hour plus overtime

Duties:

  • Install Off-Highway Vehicle (OVH) trail markers and signs
  • Paint OHV signs
  • Trail maintenance (removal of brush, trees, weeds, etc.)
  • Concuct OHV trail condition surveys
  • Patrol OHV areas, and make contact with forest visitors

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse public
  • Be able to write effectively
  • Previous experience riding all-terrain vehicle and dirt bikes

Air Quality/Wilderness Technician- Clovis, CA - # 003

Location: Clovis-CA

Pay: $11.95 - 13.41 per hour plus overtime

  • Maintain air quality instruments
  • Driving, able to drive long hours
  • Carrying heavy equipment
  • Able to hike various terrains under various temperatures
  • Overnight, weekend and holiday work required

Pay: $14.36 - 16.06 /hr (depending on level of education and experience)

  • Coordinate land management work with other programs related to recreation and natural resources
  • Coordinate or complete the following activities: public contact, automated data processing, title and records research, typing correspondence, map reading, field research, reports, compliance inspections, and other program support functions, interpretation of law and regulations

Biological Technician (Plants)(STEP) - # 009

  • Field surveys for sensetive plants and invasive plants (surveying requires off-trail hiking and driving on dirt road
  • Assist in restoration or monitoring projects, or native plant propagation program
  • Perform habitat inventories/monitoring by measuring vegetation, assisting in human impact studies, etc.

Preferred Skills

  • Graduate courses in at least one of the following fields is required : Botany, Natural Resources, Ecology, Range Science, Biolgoy, Conservation Plant Taxonomy & Advanced Plant Taxonomy
