Hunting and Target ShootingHUNTINGHunting is permitted throughout the Angeles National Forest during hunting seasons designated by the California State Department of Fish and Game. Hunting is prohibited in the San Dimas Experimental Forest. Hunting is not permitted in those areas where the discharge of firearms is prohibited by County Ordinance, California State law, or Federal regulations, and hunters must follow all laws, including no hunting within 150 yards of a residence, building, campsite, developed recreation site or occupied area. A valid California hunting license is required.
Bow hunting may be permitted in some firearm closure areas during legal hunting
seasons. No bow hunting is permitted within designated recreation areas or
special emphasis areas such as the San Dimas Experimental Forest. Please check
with the State of California Department of Fish and Game, or a local Forest
Service office for information on additional areas where bow hunting is
permitted. A valid California hunting license and appropriate tag must be in

Game web site, TARGET SHOOTINGTarget shooting is prohibited outside of designated shooting areas. Two concessionaire-operated shooting areas are located within the Angeles National Forest. These are fee areas under Special Use Permit with the Forest Service, and are the only designated shooting areas within the Angeles National Forest. Designated shooting areas also exist on the Los Padres National Forest (805) 683-6711 as well as large portions of Bureau of Land Management lands (909) 697-5204. A Place to ShootLocated 11 miles north of Saugus, CA, 8 miles north off of Copper Hill Rd., at 33951 San Francisquito Canyon Road. "A Place to Shoot" offers several ranges - from pistol to high-power rifle. This shooting area is operated by concessionaire, and eye and ear protection is required for all entering the Range. Burro Canyon Shooting ParkBurro Canyon Shooting Park is located one mile east of the junction of Highway 39 and the East Fork Road, north of the city of Azusa, CA and Interstate 210. Open Thursday through Monday. No alcoholic beverages, tracer or steel core ammunition is allowed. Call (626) 910-1344 for hours of operation and fee information.
