The Los Angeles River Ranger District, San Gabriel River Ranger District and Santa Clara/Mojave Rivers Ranger District each offer group campgrounds, some accommodating up to 300 campers. These campgrounds are available on a RESERVATION ONLY basis. Many are at elevations that receive snow during winter months and are subject to closures. Group sites may also be closed at times due to refurbishing. Check with the office in charge of the campground you would like to visit for current information and to make reservations.
 

Los Angeles River Ranger District

All Group Campgrounds on the Los Angeles River Ranger District are closed for the winter.

During the summer months, the following group campgrounds may be reserved 90 days in advance with confirmation made when full payment is received. To make reservations go online to recreation.gov

Bandido Campground is located 28 miles from the 210 Freeway in La Canada off State Highway 2, and 2 miles west of Three Points on the Santa Clara Divide Road (3N17). Elevation is 5,700'. The campground is at an elevation of 5,840 feet amid Jeffrey pines and scrub oak, and will accommodate groups as large as 130 campers. There are 25 tables, vault toilets, 20 horse corrals. No water available. The fee is $200.00 per night or $100.00 per night for half the campground and 60 people, reservations are made through National Recreation Reservation Service at www.recreation.gov or at 877-444-6777.  Top
Coulter

Coulter Campground is located off State Highway 2 between the Little Pines and Manzanita Loops of Chilao Campground, 26 miles north of the 210 Freeway in La Canada. At an elevation of 5,300 feet among coulter pines, scrub oaks and manzanita, this area will accommodate groups of up to 50 campers. There are 4 tables, vault toilets and a water faucet. The fee is $100.00 daily, reservations are made through National Recreation Reservation Service at www.recreation.gov or at 877-444-6777. Top

Located approximately 25 miles southeast of Palmdale and approximately 35 miles north of the San Fernando Valley, this group campground is centered in a grove of pine trees at an elevation of 6,200 feet. This area provides excellent hiking opportunities with the Pacific Crest Trail and other trails nearby. The area is behind a locked gate. OHV's are prohibited.

Lighting Point Campground has 6 sites which accommodate approximately 240 campers. All sites have group-sized tables. There are no toilets available, you have to bring your own. No water available. Added features include 26 single horse corrals, large gathering areas, and a short and easy nature trail. The fee for an individual site is $40.00 per day, and the entire campground may be rented for $240.00 daily, reservations are made through National Recreation Reservation Service at www.recreation.gov or at 877-444-6777. San Gabriel River Ranger District
Deer Flats
CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
This campground is located approximately 25 miles north of the city of Azusa, CA and within 1 to 2 hours drive of most of the Metropolitan Los Angeles area. Located at 6,200 feet elevation in a pine and fir forest, it is reached via State Highway 39 and the Crystal Lake Road, approximately 2 miles north of Crystal Lake Campground. Terrain within the campground is gently rolling hills, but the surrounding area is rugged, mountainous country with many very steep slopes.

The campground has 9 group sites with a total capacity of 300 persons. Individual sites will accommodate up to 65 people.

Deer Flats features paved roads, water, restrooms, tent pads, group-sized picnic and food preparation tables. There are no hookups, dump stations or showers. It is 1 mile above the Crystal Lake Visitor Center and Crystal Lake Store, which offers limited supplies.

Santa Clara/Mojave Rivers Ranger District

Jackson Flat
OPEN
The campground is available on a reservation basis only and is operated by concessionaires. Reservations may be made by contacting the National Recreation Reservation Service at (877) 444-6777 or TDD (877) 833-6777. For more information concerning the campground call (760) 249-3526. Season - June to October. Located north of State Highway 2 approximately 8 miles west of Wrightwood, CA and one mile beyond a locked gate at Grassy Hollow Visitor Center and picnic area. This campground is set among groves of pine and fir trees at an elevation of 7,500 feet, and accommodates only walk-in tent campers. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended.

Jackson Flat has 5 group sites with a total capacity of 180 persons. Sites 1, 2 and 3 have a maximum capacity of 40 persons. Sites 4 and 5 have a maximum capacity of 30 persons. Site 1 is the most secluded with Site 2 having the most land space. Sites 3, 4 and 5 are situated close together for larger groups.

All sites have piped water, and group-sized tables. Flush toilets are provided within easy walking distance of all sites. An observation deck and two nature trails are located within the campground. A trail to Jackson Lake leads from the campground for those who prefer a lengthier hike. Top

Located 8 miles north of Saugus, CA on Bouquet Canyon Road, this unique day-use area offers a picnic site which not only provides restrooms, water and tables, but is also equipped to accommodate visitors with disabilities. A multilingual/Braille-signed nature trail, suitable for wheelchairs, circles the small man-made lake (no swimming allowed, however).

Recommended maximum capacity for this day-use area is 200 people, with a fee of $75.00 for groups up to100 people. If there are more than 100 people, or a wedding of ANY size, the cost is $150.00. If a group would like to "SET UP" the day before, there is a flat rate of $75.00 for that day. The Forest Service is not responsible for security of their items. Priority is given, and no fee is charged for disabled groups. Top

Los Alamos Campground
Los Alamos Campground is located 20 miles north of Magic Mountain Amusement Park in Valencia, CA (just off Interstate 5), 2 1/2 miles west of Emigrant Landing at Pyramid Lake. The lake offers fishing, swimming, jet skiing and water skiing opportunities.

The campground offers 93 family sites with tables, and fresh drinking water. (No showers or hook-ups available). A large group campsite accommodating up to 50 visitors is available on a reservation only basis. A dump station and potable water is available free to all overnight guests. A camp store is also available, and all campers have first priority to Pyramid Lake but must be in line to enter the marina area by 6:15 a.m.
