Travel north of McCall on Hwy 55 seven miles to Road #257. Go north two miles on a dirt road to the campground. There are twenty-three units, handicapped accessible toilets, three double units for families, trail access, hosts, a day use area with horseshoe pit, drinking water through a hand pump and an artesian well, extended spurs for longer RV's. Hazard Lake CampgroundThis campground is now on the reservation system (National Recreation Reservation Service 1-877-444-6777 or online www.recreation.gov). To get to the campground travel 5 miles northwest on Hwy 55 to Goose Lake Road (Brundage Mountain Ski Area turnoff). Turn right and go 22 miles north on Goose Lake Road. There are 12 campground units with trail access, tables, toilets, fire grates, drinking water through one centrally located hand pump, non-motorized boating and fishing. There are hosts at Hard Creek Guard Station, two miles south of campground. Grouse CampgroundTravel 5 miles northwest on Hwy 55 to Goose Lake Road (Brundage Mountain Ski Area turnoff). Turn right and go 9 miles north on Goose Lake Road. Turn left at the Grouse Campground sign on to Road #273, and drive a quarter of a mile to the campground entrance. There are 22 campground units, with an ADA compliant water hand pump and vault restrooms, tables and fire rings. A host is on site as well. There is a day use site with tables and fire grates, and parking for the boat launch in to Goose Lake (a motorized no-wake lake). A trailhead for Six Mile trail is located just outside of the campground. In addition to the first come, first served sites, sites at Grouse campground are available for reservation through www.recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777. Cold SpringsTravel Eight miles southwest of New Meadows on US Hwy 95, east on Forest Road #89 to Lost Valley Reservoir. There are 30 campground units accessible for trailers, a dump station, handicapped accessible campsites, toilets and tables, group parking, boating and fishing and a horseshoe pit. There is drinking water from two centrally located hand pumps and there are hosts on site. In addition to the first come, first served sites, sites at Cold Spring are available for reservation through www.recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777. This campground will undergo major reconstruction this summer. The district will keep several sites open to the public but services may be limited. |
