HistoryThe Crystal Mine gets its name from the crystals that were mined here. During World War II crystals were needed in abundance for use in two-way radios. Dynamite was used to blast the hillside and bring the crystals to the surface. It is still possible to find nice whole crystals in the blast remnants; though it takes some work. Digging and collecting is allowed. You are allowed to remove one five-pound bucket of crystals per week. Other Activities Off-Highway Vehicle Opportunities, horseback riding, hiking, camping
