Tahoe Meadows Snowmobiling

Directions

Easy access right off Hwy 431 (Mt. Rose Hwy).

To access from Reno:

  1. Drive south on Hwy 395 to the Mount Rose/Lake Tahoe exit.

  2. Exit onto Hwy 431 and continue west up 431 approximately 15 miles (past the Mt. Rose Ski Resort).
  3. Tahoe Meadows is about 1.5 west of Mt. Rose Summit. You will see Tahoe Meadows as you start to descend on the west side. The meadows stretch out covering both sides of the road, snowmobiling is allowed on the North side only.

  4. Park your vehicle along the side of the Hwy. Be sure you are well off the Hwy before parking and unloading.

To access from Carson:

  1. Drive north on Hwy 395 to the Mount Rose/Lake Tahoe exit.

  2. Exit onto Hwy 431 and continue west up 431.

  3. Follow the Hwy continuing past Mt. Rose Ski Resort. You will see Tahoe Meadows as you start to descend on the west side. The meadows stretch out covering both sides of the road, snowmobiling is allowed on the North side only.

  4. Park your vehicle along the side of the Hwy. Be sure you are well off the Hwy before parking and unloading.
OSV Area

Snowmobiling is allowed on the North side of Hwy 431. The South side is designated for non-motorized activities. To access the main snowmobile area, ride from the staging area to service road 051. Follow this road northwest to the 1,000-acre riding area.

Heed speed limit signs and watch for snow players to avoid possible accidents. Once through the snow play area you are free to ride up to the meadows and other snowmobile areas. Along the way watch for cross-country skiers and snowshoers, be sure to stop your motor and let them pass.

Wilderness Area

Motorized vehicles are NOT allowed in Wilderness Areas. Tahoe Meadows connects to the Mount Rose Wilderness. Signs are posted along the wilderness boundaries. Heed the signs and stay out of these areas. Responsible riding and following the rules will help to keep OSV areas open.
