Bird Creek Campground
Located high on the slopes of the Schell Creek Range in the middle of an Alder, Pinyon and Juniper forest Bird Creek offers a wide range of recreation opportunities to the forest visitor. Bird Creek, a perennial stream, runs directly through the picnic area and many birds make it their home during the spring and summer seasons.

All sites can be reserved through www.recreation.gov starting on April 1st. Or call toll-free: 877-444-6777. Reservations must be made 4 days prior to arrival.

Cave Lake State Park and Comins Lake are both close by with good fishing opportunities.

Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park provides interpretation of area and history.

Northern Nevada Railway in Ely has tourist trains daily, and a museum.

White Pine County Museum has displays of the history of the area. The city of Ely has a mural tour with brochure.

Garnet Hill rock hounding area is nearby.

Drive Success Loop to view beautiful vistas, fall colors, or wildlife.
Directions
This area is located in the Duck Creek Basin:
- Drive five miles north of McGill on US 93.
- Turn on State road 486 (watch for signs saying Duck Creek).
- Drive 6 miles east on this paved road.
- Turn at the Bird Creek Picnic Area, Forest road 426, and drive two-and-a-half miles east on the dirt road.
