Red Canyon
Campground is situated in ponderosa pine, in Red Canyon, on Scenic
Byway Utah State Highway 12. It is surrounded by Pink Claron Limestone
formations similar to those found in Bryce Canyon National Park.
The area around the campground has an extensive trail system for
hiking, mountain biking, horses, and some ATV use. Check with
the District Office for restrictions on individual
trails. The campground has shower facilities, new flush restrooms,
some new fire rings and grills, and paved sidewalks in some areas
to provide improved access for people with disabilities. ATV riding
is not allowed in Red Canyon Campground.

FACILITIES:
-37 Auto/tent/trailer units
-Campground can accommodate trailers or RVs up to 45 feet in length
-Some modification of facilities to assist users with physical
impairments
-Group Picnic Area (unit 27)
-Paved roads and spurs
-Drinking water
-Fire pits
-Trash service
-Flush toilets
-Shower facilities, $2.00 fee - payable in quarters
-Trailer dump station, $5.00 fee
-Volleyball court
-Horseshoe pit
OPERATING SEASON:
The primary operating season is from
May 15 to October 1, 2008 (weather permitting). The campground is generally
open outside these dates when weather conditions are favorable.
FEE:
$12.00 for single unit sites
$24.00 for multiple unit
Additional vehicles are $6.00 each
$25.00 for Group Area, 1-50 people; $50.00 for 51-100 people
RESERVATIONS:
Camp sites are available on a first-come first-served basis, no reservation required. The Day Use Area can be reserved at the Powell Ranger District office, telephone number 435-676-9300.
ATTRACTIONS:
-Located in Red Canyon, and surrounded by pink Claron Limestone formations
-Red Canyon Visitors Center within walking distance
-Many trails with some opportunities for mountain bikes
-Ponderosa pine setting
-Close to Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Staircase Escalante-National
Monument
-Extensive hiking trails and many scenic overlooks in the Red Canyon area
