Deer Haven Campground

Deer Haven Campground is designed and constructed primarily to accommodate group organizations (such as family reunions, youth groups, and organizations). The group area is available by reservation only. Reservations can be made on-line or by calling 1-877-444-6777. There are 10 single tent spaces that are available on a first-come first-served basis (no reservations required). Shaded by an open stand of towering aspen trees, Deer Haven offers visitors solitude and breathtaking scenery including views of Cedar Breaks National Monument, as well as a variety of recreational opportunities. The Virgin River Rim Trail crosses near the campground entrance. If you click each image you will see a larger view of that image.

LOCATION:

16 miles east of Cedar City on U-14, turn off at Webster Flat road and go 3 miles on a dirt road. Deer Haven Campground will be on the west side of the road

FACILITIES:

  • 10 multiple tent units included in the group site and 10 first-come first-serve single units
  • Large group Camping Area will accommodate 12 vehicles and up to 200 people
  • Culinary water piped from a nearby spring
  • Fire ring and two tables at each site
  • Central parking
  • 2 flush and 1 vault toilets
  • Amphitheater and large group fire ring
  • Garbage may be deposited in the bins at Cedar Canyon or Duck Creek Campgrounds
  • Handicap accessible
  • Accommodates RV's up to 24 feet in length

OPERATING SEASON:

The primary season is from June 5, 2009 through September 7, 2009 with water available. However, campgrounds may remain open after Labor day without water (weather permitting).

SPECIAL ITEMS :                                                                  

  • To preserve the protective cover in the campground, camps shall be set up only in the designated areas - around the table and fire ring. Each campsite should be planned to accommodate up to three tents and 10 to 12 people.For fire protection and site protection, campfires will be built only in the constructed fire ring.Parking is limited to a central parking lot. Campers should come prepared to carry their gear from the central parking lot to their individual campsite.The concessionaire will provide and service the toiletsThis is a Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out campground. You must remove all garbage when you leave.The campground does not have an abundant water supply. Campers must conserve the available water in all activities.
  • The campground is located in a stand of aspen trees that are very susceptible to injury and death through bark damage; such as name carving, chopping, nail driving, etc. Campers must protect and not damage the aspen trees if the campground is to remain open.

ATV POLICY:

This campground is closed to operating or unloading of ATV's. ATV's may be hauled into and out of the campground on a trailer but not unloaded or ridden within the campground.
