On June 1, 2010, the Santa Fe National Forest Supervisor received a "protection order" request from Cyndi Tuell with the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD). The request was for a nondiscretionary closure of Forest Road 288 on the Jemez Ranger District to all motorized vehicles due to considerable adverse effects from motor vehicles. The following contains a response from the Forest to CBD, as well as CBDs request:
