Description:

Holy Ghost Trailhead recieves less use than other trailheads that provide access to the lakes of the western wilderness. The trail begins on the east side of the parking lot, climbing up the side of the canyon. The trail drops back down to Holy Ghost Creek and follows the creek up the canyon for about one-half mile. The trail follows the creek for several miles, either at or slightly above the canyon bottom. There are several stream crossings along the way. The crossings become increasingly easy as the stream diminishes in size higher up the canyon. The last mile of trail switchbacks steeply up the slope and emerges in an open meadow on Carpenter Ridge, the ridge between Winsor Creek and Holy Ghost Creek. The trail ends at the junction with Winsor Trail 254.

Notes:

This trail is in the Pecos Wilderness. Motorized equipment and mechanized transportation, including mountain bikes, hunter carts, and chainsaws are prohibited.

Horses trailers are not permitted on the road to Holy Ghost and horses are not permitted at the trailhead.
