Trail 262 Monte Vista Trail

Description:

From Iron Gate Trailhead go up to Hamilton Mesa Trail 249 from the information board. After about a quarter miles turn left (northeast). Follow the mostly level trail along the ridge for about one mile to the junction with Valle Largo Trail 248. From here, either turn left to take the Valle Largo Trail down to the Rio Mora and up to Valle Largo or turn right (west) to get the the Iron Gate Road.

 

Notes:

This trail allows users to make a loop, including the Iron Gate Road, for a half-day trip or to get to the Valle Largo Trail from Iron Gate without having to use the road.

There are excellent aspen viewing opportunities from this trail.
