Description:

Los Esteros Trail 226 branches off of Las Trampas Trail 240 on a hillside at the far south end of Mora Flats, at the point where Las trampas trail crosses the Rito los Esteros. Trail 226 follows a series of good switchbacks out of the Mora River valley and then parallels the Rito los Esteros toward the east. The section of trail above the switchbacks is narrow and alternates between meadow and forest. Before reaching the divide, the trail enters a large meadow where rock cairns indicate the path to the intersection with Valle Largo Trail 248. The eastern half of the trail leaves Skyline Trail 251 slightly to the north and has become extremely obscure and difficult to locate.
