Starting from the bridge at El Porvenir Trailhead, follow the Hermit's Peak Trail 223 across the stream and back across the road through the campground. The Hermit's Peak Trail climbs a short hill and passes through a fence before intersecting Las Dispensas Trail. The trail forks to the right and heads generally to the north from here with a few twists and turns down small canyons and around hillsides. There are several junctions with old roads and a few small stream crossings. The trail climbs to a saddle which provides several scenic miles of gradual descent, the trail meets Las Dispensas road in an open meadow. Following the road downhill to the east will bring the visitor to Las Dispensas Cemetery within about two miles. The highest point of this trail is between the Las Dispensas and El Porvenir. The elevation gain and loss is approximately the same whether you are traveling north or south. This trail makes a pleasant and moderate day hike.

Notes:

Las Dispensas Road is often impassable when wet.
