Cowles Campground and Trailhead

Location: 20 miles north of Pecos on Highway 63
Uses: Camping, fishing, trailhead access
Fees: $6.00 per night; $6.00 picnic area; free trailhead parking
Facilities:

9 units, 6 units for tent camping only

Vaulted toilet

Trash bins

9 tables and grills

2 three-sided shelters

1 hand water pump

 

Notes :

Fishing nearby in Winsor Creek, Cowles Ponds, and Pecos River for Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout.

The upper, smaller Cowles pond is currently closed for repairs. We are diligently working to fix the pond by early June. If you have any questions regarding the pond, please contact the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District at 505-757-6121.

Pickups, trailers, and horses allowed at Cowles Trailhead.
