Description:
From the Rio Capulin Trail 158,
the Redondo Peak Trail 231 turns to the south and climbs steeply
up the Rito Frijoles, gaining a ridgetop with good campsites
and great views. Continuing east it drops down into a dense
stand of fir, and junctions with the Horsethief
Meadows Trail 243. Following north along Trail 243 will
bring you back to the Rio Capulin
Trail 158 near the Panchuela West area. |
Notes:
The
meadow affords fine views of Redondo Peak, Pecos Baldy, Truchas
Peak and the East Pecos Baldy.
In
some places the trail is very steep, but most of it is moderate.
There are numerous water sources. Even in the summer the nights
are cold so take warm clothing along.
