Trail 385 Rio Puerco Trail

HikingPack and Saddle

Length: 5 miles
Difficulty: Difficult
Use: Light
Seasons: Summer through Fall
Trail Access: From Highway 96 take Forest Road 103 for nine miles. Turn west onto Forest Road 93 for five miles to where the Rio Puerco crosses the road. The trail starts on the spur road to the southwest side of Forest Road 93.

Description:

The Rio Puerco Trail provides a steep access into the San Pedro Parks Wilderness. It is within a heavy mixed conifer timber type and passes through several aspen stands and meadows.

 

 

Notes:

bulletNo motor vehicles or motorized equipment in the wilderness area.

bulletThe trail is in fairly good shape and there is little chance of losing it except in the meadows where the vegetation covers it. When in doubt, lookj for post markes in the meadows.

bulletNon-potable water is available at several points along the trail.
