Located
in the western portion of the Santa Fe National Forest, the Cuba Ranger
District is home to the San Pedro Parks Wilderness and a number of
other areas used for both recreation and resources.
Clear Creek and Rio de las Vacas Campgrounds are developed areas
perfect for weekend getaways. The San Pedro Parks Wilderness is
a perfect spot for a horseback ride or wilderness camping and hiking.
Much like many areas in New Mexico, families have lived off the
land here for many generations. Local communities still use the
land for cattle and sheep grazing and agricultural needs. The Jemez,
Zia, and Jicarilla Apache Pueblos neighbor the Cuba Ranger District
and are closely tied to the natural resources of the land for a
number of activities and uses.
The Ranger District Office is located in Cuba,
a full-service town with motels, restaurants and the Cuba Visitor
Center. Cuba is near both the San Pedro Parks Wilderness and developed
recreation areas.
Come and enjoy what the Cuba Ranger District has to offer!
