LOCATIONS OF BARK BEETLE ACTIVITY

During 2003 and 2004, supplemental aerial surveys were conducted to map the tree mortality in piñon-juniper woodlands and ponderosa pine forests that are not part of the normal annual program. The areas of tree mortality were primarily in stress-prone sites, such as trees at the lower end of their elevational range or those on rocky, dry exposed slopes. The following map shows areas of piñon and ponderosa pine affected based on the 2004 aerial surveys. Links are provided to PDF versions of the 2003 and 2004 maps.

For current insect and disease activity, please see our most recent conditions report available on the Publications page.
