Downloading and Viewing Files

Many files offered on our website were designed for producing hardcopy and/or offline viewing using commonly available software.  These files are intended for download and offline use.   The files may open online if you have the correct software installed on your computer, but they may open a separate browser window and may not provide integrated website navigation or be easily viewed at lower resolutions or screen sizes.

Some files are offered in one of the following common formats:

• ASCII files that can be viewed with any common text editor
• Html files that can be viewed with your web browser

Many files are offered in "portable document format" and are identified with a file extension of (.PDF or .pdf).  These files my be viewed or printed using the Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® software which is available free.  It is best to obtain and use the most current version of this software.

Some files offered as downloads may be in formats associated with specific software like word processors, spreadsheets, databases, or other special applications.
